We made it! We learned so much! We had so much fun! Join us for a celebration of the 2019 Festival of Creative Learning on the final day of our curated week of over 100 creative learning events, and be entertained, amused, intrigued and enlightened by two Cabaret of Dangerous Ideas (CoDI) shows!
News articles can be persuasive, manipulative, informative or just plain wrong. Without being omniscient, how can we tell the difference between an article we should trust, and one that we should discredit? In this workshop, learn to read the newspaper like a mathematician by evaluating the validity of arguments, understanding statistics and spotting fallacies.
Borderlines is a group exhibition that gives form to the conceptual, geo-political, economic and cultural impacts of borders. It draws attention to the ownership of the earth beneath our feet, underwater realms, the rules governing the international movement of goods, nation-states, the UK border in Ireland, financial sovereignty, tribal territories, anarchic polar exploration and the world-wide distribution of natural resources.

Collaborative workshop to create a new adult colouring book inspired by over 40,000 images published by the University's Centre for Research Collections (CRC) under a Creative Commons Attribution licence (CC BY).
Combining both analogue and digital processes participants will learn key skills to transform photographs from the collection into new artworks.
Attendees will be encouraged to print their contribution and colour them in with materials provided. The event will conclude with an informal competition with small prizes for the winners.

Secret messages have existed for centuries.
From the use of invisible inks and messages hidden in plain sight to the use of military grade encryption, people have always wanted to hide their secrets. In this special Festival of Creative Learning workshop we will look at exactly how we can do that, with one essential twist: There will be no computers.
So bring your pens and papers, your folding fans and your lemons as we delve into the art of sending and receiving secret messages.
