Dancing Wallpaper Patterns: the Beautiful Mathematics of Tango

Tuesday, 19 February, 2019 - 13:00 to 16:30
1.3 Lister Buildings Central Area

This event is available to: , , , .

Tango is an improvised dance with only eight steps. It is naturally geometrical, which means that all the figures and sequences correspond to patterns such as those on wallpaper. Our aim is to introduce you to the beauty of tango, whilst using it as kinetic and intuitive way to explain some of the mathematics behind patterns and symmetry.

The workshop will include some geometrical puzzles, an introduction to dancing tango, and finally designing your own danceable wallpaper pattern!

No previous experience is necessary. Everyone is welcome to attend.
